The Scottish PICUs and ScotSTAR are hosting the PCCS conference and we are honoured to ask you to save-the-dates – 4th – 6th October 2023 – for what we believe will be a thrilling conference and our opportunity to showcase Scotland! We cordially extend our invitation to everyone involved in the provision of paediatric critical care. Join us for our many workshops on 4th October. Reside with our critical care family in our private purpose-built campus at the University of Edinburgh. Absorb the architectural magnificence and the finest of Scottish dining at the conference dinner – our own bagpiper, ceilidh, and then chill with a dram of Scotland’s famous nectar!
We are exceptionally proud of our developing program: Our theme is ‘Communicate to Connect’, recognising that so much of our clinical practice is driven by communication: with each other; with our multi-disciplinary colleagues; with our families; with the evidence; with the research. How do we communicate – sorry, you are on mute! When – and with whom? How do we voice our opinions / our concerns? What should I do when alone and anxious at 3am? How do we decide the right strategy when an individual patient is so complex? Ethics, law, palliation, expectations, demands, complications, pressure, stress, support and well-being, staff resilience. The PICUs of the future …
Perhaps the words of a leading health minister, or an internationally renowned hostage negotiator, or an experienced authority may resonate? Perhaps drawing on the skills of each other during the many opportunities for informal networking?
