The Paediatric Critical Care Society

We are a professional, multi-disciplinary, membership organisation representing the interests of those delivering paediatric critical care in the UK.

Our Core Objectives

Paediatric critical care is a small speciality with its own unique challenges.  Our strength lies in our close working relationships and multi-professional ethos. PCCS is only as strong as its membership and seeks transparently to represent all colleagues working in Paediatric critical care to meet the following core aims:

  • Setting national standards for high quality care

  • Training & education

  • Promoting collaborative research

  • Representing paediatric critical care in healthcare policy development

  • Supporting the wellbeing of paediatric critical care professionals

PCCS members are encouraged to get involved in our sub-groups and build close working relationships with other like-minded individuals working in this specialty.

Paediatric Emergencies Conference

For the last 6 years, the Paediatric Emergencies Conference has been a day-long, free, online, interactive conference hosted on Youtube.  It draws on the experience of Paediatric Consultants and Resident doctors across the UK and Ireland to provide practical and up to date, evidence based medicine to manage the acutely unwell child.

The Intensive Care Society’s Legal and Ethical Advisory Group (LEAG), has developed this good practice guide to assist units looking to utilise videoconferencing technology. This guidance has been reviewed by ICS Patient and Relatives Committee and ICU Steps and has been endorsed by PCCS.
