PCCS Research Awards 2026
The Paediatric Critical Care Society provides a maximum of £6,000 a year to support research.
Paediatric Critical Care Society Research Awards
Research projects in either basic science or clinical research in a field relevant to paediatric critical care may be supported. Research intended to support future fellowship or grant applications from early career researchers is particularly encouraged.
Applicants
At least one of the applicants must be a member of PCCS
The principal applicant should be a clinician, nurse or member of another clinical discipline currently practising in paediatric critical care in the United Kingdom or Ireland
The Project
Must be relevant to the practice of paediatric critical care
Should be novel in its scope or represent a significant development in clinical or scientific research
Application for grants
Applications for grants should be in the range of £1,000 to £2,000
The grant will be awarded for a two-year period
The grant will be awarded through the hospital or institution sponsoring the research
Application forms can be obtained from the PCCS website
The application deadline is noon on July 31st, 2026.
The applicant will be informed of the outcome of their application by November 2026 (PCCS conference)
Applications will be administered by the Education and Science Committee of PCCS and reviewed by a panel composed of at least two independent reviewers.
The project must be commenced within 6 months of the award date (or all monies must be refunded)
A final report must be submitted to the PCCS Education and Science Committee within 12 months of the end date of the award; and/or submitted as an abstract to the PCCS annual conference
Evaluation of the project
Applications are evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:
Originality of the project
Importance of the work
Methodology
Quality of application
Priority will be given to projects in areas highlighted as research priorities by the PCCS or the APA.
